Their staff are all instructors and love diving Grand Cayman with a passion. Divetech has a full service shore diving shop at Lighthouse Point Dive Resort with beautiful shallow reefs and awesome advanced canyons, swim throughs and deep walls to explore. My kids from 8 years old and up had life changing scuba diving adventures with Divetech staff all week while the adults were out on the boat dives.

They are the only people that we would trust to teach our teenager, who had a great time and is now fully certified. The kit is always in good condition, the boat is never too full - they limit the number of divers to way below the boat's capacity and the number of staff as I think they'd rather give people a great experience than try and turn a bigger profit! The dive sites are very varied and the dive leaders are experienced, professional, courteous and really nice people to be around. Coming here is always a very happy experience for us.

Their feedback on Tripadvisor really does say it all. They are centrally located on the famous Grand Anse beach so the majority of dive sites are only 10 - 15 minutes away. If you want a small operation that takes a maximum of eight divers per trip then you really should try Dive Grenada.

They were helpful welcoming and very professional. Like many places these days the dive shop itself is quite small unlike their boat which was spacious and very easy to dive from. I think in a perfect world bigger wash up facility is the only thing I can think of so far. Also was unlucky to get on a boat with students but I can't really expect that they would send out two boats I suppose. I am diving with them again tomorrow and hope that the sun stays out for the rest of my day.

Went out for four dives with Tadd. They made it easy and fun, loved that their guys carried the heavy gear the short walk across the beach to the boat for us and back. Everything was executed flawlessly both days, the drop off in the water, pick up, tons of life including a turtle on BOTH dives, swam by at our safety stop to check us out, what an experience. Lobsters, an eel, shrimp, trigger fish, big angels, and on and on. Really enjoyed the company, my fellow divers attracted to the best shop on the Riviera Maya according to Trip Advisor. Felt very safe and had the feel of a high end shop with competitive rates - so a very high value in my opinion. Safety and doing things by the book while having fun is important at Wetset in my opinion.

Thats how I started in diving and so warmed to this original style of diving for me. Based in falmouth I would say is no better or worse for topography on the actual diving quality and you just have to accept that topography isn't all that. You will find good schools of fish despite the toursit best efforts to eat them all. The waters here in the south seem to be a bit calmer if only because the dive sites are a bit closer perhaps. We did Pillars and Blacks among other sites and I have never ever seen so many lobster on a single dive in my life. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending you dive with Don and Xtreme.

Indigo Divers welcomed me onto their boat from Jolly Harbour dock. I had my own equipment just needed weights. Got a full and detailed briefing of the boat and entry methods employed and also getting back on as Antigua can get choppy. I also liked the fact the boat captain stays on board. This is a great safety feature and I liked this fact though its difficult to argue that someone will run off with the boat otherwise - still it helps and allows you to be picked up if need be.
I felt very comfortable with shade good refreshment and space on board the well maintained dive boat. If there was a negative it was just the fact that there was no shop to wash the gear down though you can wash it down in the Crows Nest facility. You can't have everything AND black tip reef sharks and I would recommend Indigo Divers fully.

The staff were attentive polite and very friendly. We got a boat briefing and dive site briefing. There was a course going on at the time which did not limit the good dives we did.

I would use them again and recommend them to anyone. 2 tanks with my own equipment and marine park fee was 89 USD including the pickup.

My only issue and this is not something they can do much about is if your resort is far away it will take a while to get there. They don't pick up by boat. Food at lunch time water and juice on-board (no coffee) and the boat is well catered for with oxygen and first aid kit etc good ladders for getting back in and space. They don't have a dive shop per-se but this is not an issue normally. Though for a course I don't know where you will study.

I would also add that you get water or juice on the boat and we had lasagne which was a real treat. The other operators dont have as nice food.

The quality of the leading was very good (Paul and Connie great hospitality humor - Paul dives with a bow tie !) finding and explaining the fish life past what I normally am used to. They are also committed to safety first and fun second.

Some small things missing for me- free or available coffee in the shop (its a decent sized hut on a beautiful beach) Also I didn't get to shower off before my lift back to resort.

NOTE: This appears to be the only dive operator offering decent value transfers from Resort. I was staying at the halcyon rex in dickenson beach and ot cost 20 USD return regular cab is over 50 ! Other dive operators use regular taxis and they told me for insurance purposes they would not pick us up, that can't be right ?

Hope this don't scare anybody off but we had reef sharks swimming right along with us on most dives and it was wonderful. They are my favorite sea creatures

Jolly dive may not be the slickest operators in the Carribean / Atlantic but from my experience "slick" usually means impersonal.
If you want to be treated like a true dive "buddy" then get yourself down to Jolly Harbour and meet the Jolly Dive team. By the end of my stay they had me feeling like I "was" one of the team. :-)

As for cost, their charges are very reasonable given the time and effort they will go to to get everyone down to the Dive Shop from anywhere on the island. I had my personal transport to and from the dive Shop driven by two people Sonya and Paul (Both of whom demonstrated ultra safe driving at all times, and believe me I know what I am talking about!! http://aditraining123.co.uk That's me by the way!!! Plug! Plug!! :-)

Overall a great dive holiday spent with some great people in a great part of the world.

Well recommended!!!

I am an experienced (I never say 'advanced') diver with 1000+ dives. I prefer to dive with a DM and a small group. Tylls offers exactly what I wanted/needed. I was in West End for over a month and dove about twice a week with them. They became friends and I enjoyed every dive. They took great pains to make sure dive conditions were safe and even when I was the only diver, we went diving. There are bigger dive shops in West End, but I doubt if there are any better.

K.. looks a bit odd to give all staight A's, but hear me out.
Owner Uwe dont messes around with his stuff, its good, well maintained and he as an ingeneer and instructor knows what its about. You can expect close to new regulators, same in bcd's and tanks, those 3 are for me most important. Altho i almost forgot the compressor here which is well.. do i need to repeat?
Uwe and that lovely danish girl Dorte provide next to the staff a very laid back time.. I got taken care of in a personal, friendly and almost family like way. And since ive been diving with plenty outfits in Roatan, mostly in west end but also in west bay and with some of the bigger resort, my opinion of there way of how they are operating is 3 kisses, cream and sugar on top..
Guests are always welcome in the shop, invited to come along to dinner or a drink, to be part of the ongoing scrabble, nick your neigbor (friendly version) and what not. Your not just diving, you are there guest;
I'm going back there and with 1500+ dives logged, that's a first.

The price? It's almost a joke, they will go up pretty soon im sure, so better take advantage of that cause shops like this are hard to find.

Safe diving,

Ron

The level of staff experience and dive leading varies from DM to DM (or instructor), but the professionalism and importance to safety does not. The shop is always welcoming and has an endless supply of coffee (which helps on the early mornings). The gear is well maintained and serviced regularly. The dive sites are excellent, with maps of many of them on the wall for you to see before you go. The shop owners are experienced and will always work with you to make your diving an enjoyable experience, making sure that both your program and your instructor are a good match. I looked at all the other shops before I chose to come to Tyll's. Being an instructor, I knew what to look for and I found everything and more here.

Very laid back setup, but focus on quality and safety. Love the fact that it's small and personnal. Location could be better if it were on the beach, but the extra 20 steps is still very good! Plus the Turtle across the street is close and allows for quick drinks while chatting or playing cards after a nice day diving... Looking forward to go back!

I wish they were on the waterside ! I think the shop isn't much to look at from the outside but when you are on the inside its a very laid back shop with an emphasis on safety and quality of diving. It's really friendly. Smaller groups and the full variety of diving Roatan can offer.

A great dive shop popular with the yachting brigade who harbour here on the other side of Carriacou. They were friendly and helpful, but there were no other divers so the atmosphere was a little 2 dimensional, of no fault of the dive shop of course. The quality of the diving was some of the best I have had in the caribbean and Connie was a great divemaster at finding things like rays and nurse sharks.

If you don't have your own equipment you will be shocked at the water in the gauges and air jumps of 20 bar if the fills seem low ! gulp ! The boat isn't the most comfortable always stay close to your buddy. This is Cuba and it seems this is quite the norm here.

For such a seemingly isolated area it isn't as you would expect under the surface. Though the reef is decent quality there was a lack of sea life the 5 days I dived there. In fact I wouldn't recommend more.

The resort has good rooms and a few facilities but hopefully there will be a few folks around to chat to .There is no outside of the resort, except a long tarmac road and no transport. So you are stuck there. Get a deal which is full board to save money though as you cant choose where you eat or at least make sure to get dinner and breakfast board at the restaurant.

But if you want an original location to get away from it all then here could be a good option especially if you have your own dive equipment. Don't miss the province of Pinar Del Rio and Vinales !
