SS Stavronikita is Barbados' premier dive site. The "Stav" for short is a 365-foot freighter that was sunk deliberately in 1976 . She sits in 120 foot of water with the deck being around 85 feet with structure rising up to about 30 feet from the surface. This 38 years old wreck was intended to be used as a dive site with lots of penetration holes but unfortunately over the years has lost a lot of structural integrity and entering the hull no longer recommended. Barbados is a great place to see and go swim with turtles, these are just some of the encounters we had.
