Wow what a place! The resort and general area
I have been mean on the level of quality because the drinks could be sugary syruppy horror story. They really don't do a rum punch! But the room we had a superior which was comfortable and very nice. No bath, didn't miss that as we had a great walk in shower. Beds were nice and comfortable the air con was integrated into the wall not a separate unit- it worked...
An excellent resort especially suitable for couples. Not the cheapest option but certainly lives up to the expectations which is not often the case in the caribbean! This resort is suitable also for weddings as much as it is suited to couples. Want to scuba? There are loads and hundreds of incredible diving spots a mile or less off the hotel. One dive that...
What a great drift dive, saw turtles and a great school of Barracuda. It's really a fantastic ride as you drift at a nice pace along the reef wall with corals galore. What a great dive we had.
Probably frustrating for experienced divers who like the proper marine ecosystem, this is clearly somewhat skewed because of the fish cleaning the fishermen created. However I feel that these have a good effect on snorkelers who can get interested in the ocean.
Good Value and Enjoyable Holiday at the Melia Cayo Guillermo
Its a very nice beach and the nature is mostly unspoilt* The cays here are remote (staff get bussed in from the closest towns 1 hour away!) due to the remoteness and the National Park and so the nature around is very undisturbed by a lack of mass human development (though tourism must impact). If you take the $5 bus ride you will see the nature and feel the remoteness...
Its an Expansive Resort
I had never stayed in such a grandiose place you park as if at a theme park. The resort itself is well appointed with lifts and even a Funicular. You wouldn't really leave the resort by foot it's not that kind of place. There is a daily ferry that goes over to a beautiful island called PALOMINO. This is a highlight as it feels like you are escaping a resort...
A tougher dive to master
The difficulty is to have a good dive profile to do the dive justice. Having a good air consumption is part of it. Go with the flow and use a computer to get the best out of this challenging dive site.
The resort has a small swimming pool and a restaurant that I do not recommend really. Overpriced, the food is not that good and the service is slow. The waitresses and bartenders are really unpolite and seem to hate their job. The only good thing about it, it's the live music on Sunday and Wednesday nights with the band High Tide, but you can also enjoy it Friday night in...
Consistently rated as great but overpriced
Not just levelled at the Amanyara but across all the luxury hotels in Turks and Caicos you get the same thing. So expect this to be somewhere that is maybe not as value for the top dollar but you will be getting an amazing resort and experience.
Micheal E My wife..
Micheal E My wife & I want to take the time to say “THANK YOU SO MUCH” to all of the Staff for a wonderful time at the Mayan Princess. After our first visit in 2010 and then again this year (2011), we can see that there have been many improvements in all areas! The accommodations were wonderful, the service from all of the staff was...
Good Very good but a bit too high priced.
I would be happy to stay again if I were not paying, because it is who I am I need to feel to get value for money and this place is very good but being so far from the action it feels at times cha ching.
RISJango
Although many people like this hotel very much, it should be noted that it is a very bare-bones place. The rooms have no amenities, not even a plug to put a razor in in the bathroom, shower heads that go from cold to hot and back in the twinkling of an eye, no Kleenex, no hairdryers, very hard beds and slippery tile floors. The breakfasts are good (and the breakfast...
Not a bad option
Depending on what kind of traveler you are and the fact that you are already considering dominica is telling me this could be a good option. You are not here to enjoy a 5 star beachside resort and spa experience. You are a nature lover and this resort will put you into the heart of that. This resort needs to be a value proposition and for you only you can...
Check on the pool completion date
With a lack of a pool while the new one is encours - some guests have voiced out this along with the usual Caribbean service woes this still could be a good bet for a resort in Tortola.
Better get realistic with expectations
Head on over here to see what I mean - mixed bag that is all too often TA http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g147268-d148643-Reviews-Divi_Flamingo_Beach_Resort_and_Casino-Kralendijk_Bonaire.html#REVIEWS But there are enough negative reviews to give weight that this resort suffers like almost every single Caribbean Resort ! The service compared to US and Canada expectations when it comes to the restaurant and food. It's an all too common complaint in the Caribbean. On top of...
Reviews great at this price point
The resort reviews well on trip advisor - we are yet to get any reviews for this site so advise you to also check here - http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g147268-d148636-Reviews-Blue_Divers_Resort-Kralendijk_Bonaire.html#REVIEWS
A bit out of town
Reviews well by and large people note that it isn't in town and quiet , I suspect this is that old Caribbean issue where you want some small party going on and the resort feels dead. To others thats why they like the Caribbean. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g147268-d150215-Reviews-Caribbean_Club_Bonaire-Kralendijk_Bonaire.html
Not massively rated as a place to stay though ok for certain types it remains an option for those wanting to dive here. We wouldn't recomend staying until the owners decide to bring it back to the original ethos. Too often in the Caribbean it is an attitude of we wont improve until more people come - sadly that is the death knell. The Club Med all...
Needs updating but otherwise there is hope
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g676266-d147845-Reviews-Abaco_Beach_Resort_and_Boat_Harbour_Marina-Marsh_Harbour_Great_Abaco_Island_Abaco_Islan.html Timeless or time is up ? In need of some serious renovation and refurb by all accounts here - but as with most places in the Caribbean its the vibe and charm that capture your heart and not the resorts themselves at times. Still you need to paying the right money and this one is too expensive for mediocrity.
This reviews very well across trip advisor
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g147425-d149298-Reviews-Small_Hope_Bay_Lodge-Andros_Out_Islands_Bahamas.html There are normally more negative reviews from those that are really hard to please but this resort seems either not to attract this kind of visitor or they simply charm them. I think the clarity of their website helps - you will know what your getting into here no tv ! for example. It's not for everyone. But it seems to be very popular and I...
